The Simo Milosevic Institute is an alternative-medicine and rehabilitation spa center located in Igalo, Montenegro. It was used by Marshal Tito, who had a private villa – now abandoned and deteriorating – built on the premises. Gaddafi, a life-long friend to Tito, frequently visited the villa and used the spa. In early 2011, members of the Gaddafi administration approached Igalo with a proposal for the rehabilitation of injured Libyan soldiers. Since Gaddafi’s downfall, the institute has had to renegotiate the terms by which it would accept the Libyan wounded. In 2012, an agreement was finally reached with a new Libyan health system. The first group of patients has yet to arrive.
