The Topography of Abductions in The North Caucasus
2007-2010
On 27th of December, 2002, Musa Temergeriyev was arrested by a group of Russian servicemen in his home in Grozny. Musa's sisters followed the servicemen to the grounds of military unit No. 3186. On the following day, a commander of this unit confirmed that Musa had been arrested by servicemen from Khankala, Russia's main military base in Chechnya. The family was informed that Musa had been transferred to Khankala and that he was charged with unlawful possession of a hand grenade. The authorities then cut off all communication with the family. The family eventually brought the case before local authorities, providing details about the military unit and transport involved in the arrest, but the investigation was suspended due to a lack of evidence and identifiable suspects. The whereabouts of Musa remain unknown.
