Aman Sveti Stefan Resort, Montenegro. During the communist era, the Alexander Nevsky church located on the island was demolished by the communists. In the '50s local residents were removed, and the island was then transformed into a city-hotel for the rich and famous on both sides of the Iron Curtain. In 2006, the Aman resort group signed a 30-year lease to renovate and manage the hotel, and once again the island became off-limits for the general population. In 2009, Aman group took on an outside investor, billionaire Restis Group, who then took over the property and poured cash into the project through the Montenegrin company “Adriatic Properties”. Villa Miločer opened in 2009 and ran into a number of confrontations with the locals over the access restrictions and the reconstruction of the church. The investors asked the local government to take care of the issue. The reservations are by request only.
